Link References
In this section, we explain how to configure link references in Bytechat, so your chatbot can share relevant sources and pages from your website with users during conversations. Correctly setting up link references helps improve the user experience and ensures visitors have quick access to the information they need.
What are link references?
Link references are URLs that Bytechat can include in its answers to refer users to specific pages or sources on your website. This can be useful for providing additional information, sharing product details, or guiding users to relevant sections of your site.
Set up link references in Bytechat
Follow these steps to configure link references in Bytechat:
- Access the configuration screen: Log in to your Bytechat dashboard and navigate to the "Configuration" tab.
- Go to the Behavior & Personality section: Click "Behavior & Personality" in the side menu to open the relevant settings.
- Enable link references: Look for the "Link References" option and click it to allow Bytechat to use link references.
Adjust training data for link references
For link references to work effectively, you need to make sure your training data contains relevant context. Here are some tips:
- Add example questions: Make sure your training data includes questions users might ask where link references are useful, such as "Where can I find more information about product X?"
- Specify relevant URLs: In the training data, you can include specific URLs that Bytechat can use in response to certain questions. Often just scraping your website is sufficient, because Bytechat can then automatically find the relevant links. However, if you want to emphasize specific pages, add them explicitly under the "Additional Information" heading in your training data.
- Use clear prompts: Give Bytechat clear instructions in the training data about when and how link references should be provided. Next: Response Suggestions
